Tour description: 

DAY 1: SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA (-/-/D)

Transfer from Juan Santamaria International Airport to the Barceló San Jose Palacio, where you will spend the next two nights. Hotel check-in starts at 14:00. Dinner at the hotel.

 

DAY 2: SAN JOSE SIGHTSEEING TOUR, COFFEE PLANTATION (B/L/D)

In the morning, we will leave the hotel in San Jose on the Pan American road towards Alahuela province. We will drive along the slopes of Poas Volcano, where the world's second largest active crater with a diameter of 1.5 km is located, also known as the “world's largest geyser”. At the moment, the volcano is in a very active state, throwing out gas and steam columns daily, for this reason the entrance to the national park is temporarily closed. On the way, we will stop at the coffee plantation Doc Estate, where you will learn about the process of growing coffee and its impact on the history of Costa Rica. Next, you will visit La Paz Waterfalls Park, where you will have the opportunity to walk along the paths of a foggy forest with views of amazing waterfalls, visit a butterfly farm, serpentarium, hummingbird feeders, an aviary with exotic birds, and an exposition of wild cats of Costa Rica. During the tour you will be provided with lunch. At the end of the tour, return to the Barceló San Jose Palacio hotel.

 

DAY 3: TORTUGERO PARK (B/L/D)

In the morning you hit the road through the Braulio Carillo National Park. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the waterfalls and banana plantations. Next, you will cruise along the river and natural canals to the Tortuguero National Park, covering an area of more than 260 km². Tortuguero is the natural habitat of more than 300 species of birds. During the cruise you may come across toucans, parrots, kingfishers and rare green macaws. After lunch, you will visit the village of Tortuguero. The natural guide also organizes a short walk along the beach on which turtles usually build their nests. Dinner at the hotel. Accommodation 2 nights at the Evergreen Lodge.

 

DAY 4: TORTUGUER PARK, CHANNEL CRUISE(B/L/D)

In the morning, you will cruise along the canals of Tortuguero Park. Along the coasts of the canals, the raffia species palm trees grow, which are the habitat of white-faced monkeys, green iguanas and tropical birds. During the tour, you can meet white herons or amazing nests of oxen birds (Montezuma Oropendola). You will sail through the mysterious waters of the Caño Palma canals, and visit the Green Turtle Research Station, where you will learn about programs to protect and protect the turtle population. Return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, you can spend your free time by the pool or in the gardens of your hotel, enjoying the sounds of the jungle. Dinner and overnight at the Evergreen Lodge.

 

DAY 5: LA FORTUNA(B/L/D)

Morning cruise on the Tortuguero River. Lunch. Next, you will drive through the picturesque countryside and travel to the San Carlos Valley, where you will stay for the next two nights. Dinner and Accommodation at Los Lagos / Hotel Arenal Paraiso

 

DAY 6: SUSPENDED BRIDGES, THERMAL WATERS, ARENAL VOLCANO (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will embark on an unforgettable adventure to the heart of the rain forest. Suspended bridges located in it are considered one of the main attractions of the country. The tour includes passing through 6 suspension bridges in a lush rainforest. You will see many waterfalls and tropical birds. After lunch - if you wish - you can book a Canopy Tour in the private possessions of the Arenal Paraiso hotel (not included in the tour price, extra charge $ 50 per person) - this is an opportunity to gain an unusual experience in extreme conditions; You will be offered a journey, sliding in special mountings along the cables that are stretched between platforms located at the height of trees, on each of which an instructor will meet you; You will have an amazing opportunity to enjoy beautiful aerial views. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to plunge into the waters of thermal springs. If there are favorable weather conditions, the magnificent Arenal volcano will also be perfectly visible from your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the Los Lagos / Hotel Arenal Paraiso.

 

DAY 7: GUANACASTE(B/L/D)

In the morning you will go to the province of Guanacaste, followed by a stop in the city of Liberia. The route runs through the country's only dry rainforest zone. Today we have dinner and stay at Casa Conde Beach Front Hotel / Occidental Grand Papagayo.

 

DAY 8: PACIFIC COAST, GUANACASTE (B/L/D)

On this day, you can relax in a luxury hotel and manage your free time as you wish - swim in the pool, treat yourself to spa treatments or just relax. Dinner at the hotel.

 

DAY 9: TARCOLES RIVER CRUISE, SAN JOSE (B/L/D)

In the morning after breakfast, your path lies through the cattle-breeding farms of the province of Guanacaste. After lunch, you will head for a cruise on the Tarkoles River, flowing next to the Carara Nature Reserve. During the cruise, you can watch tropical birds, crocodiles and even rare red macaws living in mangroves. In the evening - return to San Jose, accommodation at the Wyndham Garden San José Escazu hotel and a farewell dinner.


DAY 10: SAN JOSE(B/-/-)

Your journey will come to an end after breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. in the morning. We will arrange a transfer for you to the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose ¡Hasta la vista!
